Here is a long but very well done video of a Virgin Atlantic crew making a landing at SFO.

(And here they are taking off …).

About 15 years ago I was on a Virgin Atlantic flight that arrived at SFO. After landing we hung around on the taxiway for quite a while. Eventually the captain came on the tannoy and explained that despite being responsible for a $200 million plane, ~350 people and having flown it over 5,000 miles the folks at SFO didn’t trust him to park the plane!

I’ve done that arrival several times headed into both San Francisco and San Jose. Very thorough those guys are, although I suspect some of it was for the benefit of the cameras. Their checklists are a whole lot shorter than ours, though. Watching stuff like that and a recent job interview that involved flying a 767 simulator sometimes makes me wish I’d gone the airline route. But I suspect the career path would have been a whole lot bumpier than it has been for me – I’ve had it pretty good flying my little Learjets while my airline friends have had plenty to complain about.

  3. this is taken from ITVV flight deck series. The 747 covers a lot more than just this snipped.
